Although Souris is a small community, you will find that there is much to do. Within one block of the McLean House you will find The Bluefin, a local seafood restaurant chosen for "Where To Eat In Canada". Also for your convenience, nearby you will find a gym, movie theatre and a tourist information booth.
GolfPrince Edward Island is a golf lovers dream! Souris is located only 30 minutes from the world-class Links at Crowbush Cove... home of the 1998 Export A Skins Game with Fred Couples, Mark O'Meara, John Daly, and Mike Weir. Also, within 30 minutes, you will also find the Canadian Golf Academy, Brudenell River and Dunderave Golf Courses. Rollo Bay Greens is a 9-hole golf course that is located 5 minutes away!
BeachesOn an island known for its beautiful beaches, we are only 10 minutes away from the most beautiful one of all!! Basin Head Beach is a favourite with locals and tourists... you will find showers, bathrooms, food, and even a few quaint little shops. If you are interested in a quieter beach, ask us, we will be glad to give you directions! There are miles and miles of beaches to choose from.
ShoppingIn the immediate area you will find two grocery stores to stock up on supplies. Also, there are several shops in the Souris area. In Charlottetown (50 minutes), you will find the Confederation Court Mall and the Charlottetown Mall, as well as Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire and many other stores and shops. Museums and LighthousesYou will find PEI is full of interesting and enchanting stories. You can come and tour a real lighthouse or find out the history of fishing, railways ... or just about anything else. Check out the Museum and Heritage Web Site. FishingNearby you will find Souris, Naufrage, North Lake, and Annandale Harbours. Canoeing, Kayaking, and CyclingThe Souris area is excellent for canoeing, kayaking and cycling. There are many inlets and bays heading east or west along the water ways. If you enjoy cycling, walking or running the Confederation Trail is only minutes away. Confederation TrailSee PEI in a unique and different way... travel by foot or bicycle. PEI boasts over 300 km of groomed trails. It is a nature lovers heaven!! You will find an entrance to the Confederation Trail only one block from the McLean House!
Getting HereOne of the benefits of vacationing on Prince Edward Island is that getting here is almost as much fun as being here!! You can travel on the Northumberland Ferry from Wood Islands, PEI to Caribou, NS or you can travel the Confederation Bridge, the longest bridge in the world over ice-covered water. From Souris you can catch a six hour ferry ride to the beautiful Magdalen Islands (Īles de la Madeleine).
